Santa Delivered.

Santa really came through on the "sparkly crown, and sparkly dress that goes all the way down to my toes" request.

He even threw in a "sparkly" necklace, and "sparkly "wand.

"Ella-Kazam!!!"

"Oh! A Pony!!!"

"Oh! A Truck!!!"

"Oh! A Bay-Bee!!!!"

Takin' a break.

Phew! Opening presents is hard work!

Only 7 More Shopping Days...

Ella's done really well on our last few marathon shopping days...as long as she gets to try on lots of accessories.

Sophie, on the other hand, is totally over the whole Christmas Shopping thing.

Inter-Household Memo

To: Whom it May Concern

Re: New dilly-dahle Household Policies and Procedures

Dear dilly-dahle Household Members:

As management of this household, it is our duty to keep members up to date on our policies and procedures. At this time we would like to remind you of policies already in place (please see your orientation packet to review current policies and procedures), and make you aware of several new policies, effective immediately.

1. Shampoo, soap, lotion, gel, hairspray, and other applicable personal care products are to be kept locked in their designated areas unless they are actually being used.

2. Cereal is to be kept on the breakfast table. If any cereal is found on the floor after breakfast, it will be swept up, saved in a bowl, and served for breakfast the following morning.

3. All writing tools including, but not limited to, pens, pencils, markers, are to be kept in the designated area, and are only to be used during nap time.

If these policies are not followed, we regret to inform you that disciplinary actions will have to be taken. First time offenders will receive a warning, no notes will be made in your file at that time. However, if the problem persists, appropriate action will be taken, and the offense will be noted in your file. Appropriate action may include, standing with your nose in the corner, time out, or being sent straight to bed.

We appreciate your attention, and adherence to these matters. Our policies and procedures are in effect to help make the household a fun, friendly, and safe environment for all.

Thank you, and have a nice day.

Sincerely,

The Management

Long Day

Today was a long day. One of those days when you mop up a carton of spilled yogurt, only to find that when you turn around you step in another carton of spilled yogurt....

But I'll spare you the tedious details.

This is what I wish the list of my day looked like.

  1. Went Salsa dancing
  2. Made a chocolate cake ( I make a fantastic 7 layer chocolate cake, if I say so myself. You can't have a bad day with it sitting on your counter).
  3. Finished my book.
  4. Started another book.
  5. Painted a picture.
  6. Took some photos.
  7. Took a nap.
  8. Watched Christmas movies.
  9. Went shopping.
  10. Played dragon slayer with Ella and Sophie.
Oh Well, there's always tomorrow...

Temptation

"Dad, Sophie's eating the gingerbread house!!!"

There is no such thing as 'out of reach' for Sophie.
It might be time for those little chairs to disappear for a while.

Perfect Sunday Evening

Ella and Sophie played outside until dark. They rode trikes, and played "Mystery Island" (I'm not sure what that is or where it came from) while I grilled ugly steaks. We ate dinner on the back porch and enjoyed the beautiful, not too warm, not too cold, November weather. Sophie pointed out every bird and airplane she saw, in between bites/handfuls of acorn squash. Then we watched "The Sword and the Stone," and Sophie pointed out the birds. It was a great way to end a great weekend.
