Night Owls.

Bed time is 8:00PM. We aren't super strict with it, but we usually get the girls in bed by 9:00PM. Then they read, play, do math, and tease each other for hours. Around 11:00 PM they start to wind down, and after several drinks of water, and a couple of complaints from Sophie "(Ella, stop reading so loud, I'm trying to sleep,)" they are usually both asleep by midnight.

This is Sophie's new "bed." She's outgrown the crib, but we don't have a real bed for her yet. Maybe we'll get bunk beds here soon. Her pillow has gone MIA, so she's claimed the red couch pillow.

Ella generally likes to pile all of the extra blankets in the house onto her bed "in case I get cold," even though our house rarely gets below 70 degrees.

at 9:30 AM the next morning...

...evidence of their adventures the night before...Sophie's in there...somewhere....

...and Ella's blankets always end up on the floor sometime in the middle of the night.

And that is why we signed up for afternoon kindergarten.

My Jordan is 12 and he still piles a gazillion blankets on top of himself...I love that the pillow is MIA, but she figured it out. GOod little problem solver.

So cute! Love the sock monkey. Glad to see other kids' rooms in as much disarray as my kids are!

Thats the way our bedtime used to be. But out kids all have had to stop taking naps at about 18 months and they wake up at 7:30 regardless of what time they go to sleep. So in order to calm down some of the bad moods during the day we started getting stricter on bedtime. For the last year or so we've held a pretty strict bedtime at 7:30pm. Well, that's when we start pajamas and such. After they're ready for bed they get in and I sit in their room and read a chapter of a book to them. We're read LOTS of books that way, LOL. Right now we're into the Fablehaven books. Michael even got into listening to them (he used to hear bits and pieces if he was upstairs and finally started intentionally listening, lol). So I take turns lying down on each of their beds while reading and Michael sits in the rocking chair. They usually are asleep before 8:30 and we have an hour or so of "alone time" before bedtime for us. I LOVE my quiet time! Sometimes we'll just rent a movie, borrow a projector from M's work and "go to the theater" at home after bedtime and call it date night :D
Sometimes we'll let them stay up later, but if we do it for a couple of days in a row we just end up all the more determined on the early bedtime, LOL. They are SO much nicer if they go to bed early. Kate really stays up closer to 9:30 because she reads her scriptures after I leave and she has a hard time getting to sleep, but she's usually quiet and in bed at least.
