experience

"experience: the thing you get the second after you needed it."

I got in a fight with 2 mesquite trees and 3 yucca plants last night. I won. But just barely. It's clearly time to invest in some chain mail armor if I intend on doing any more pruning in my yard. I look like I wrestled with half a dozen ornery cats.

While I was working, several neighbors walked by and expressed their sympathy. "I had to do that last week, it's not very fun," "Good luck with that!" and my personal favorite, "Well that's a mistake you only make once! I just hired someone to pull all my yucca's out."

(Um, can I get the name of that person).

Other things you (should) only do once...
  • take a baby on an airplane with out a change of clothing
  • buy an Alero.
  • try to fix a bad hair day with a pair of scissors.
  • lick a nine volt battery.
  • give a cat a bath.
I've got plenty more, but I stop there for now.

Anyone else have any one time mistakes experiences?

I've had the baby/airplane experience.
There are many mistakes that you can definitely end up looking at the bright side and call "experiences"
I know your car and hair stories definitely make for some good blogging! I'm sure that Sophie will provide many more

Here's one: Buy a new car and keep all three of the keys that came with it on the same key ring. It's really fun explaining to the fire department how you locked your baby in the car, in your own driveway, on day two of owning the car. It's imperative to split up all the keys the instant they are given to you. It took six firemen to break into my car, but they did it and Camden was rescued.

Have we all had that airplane experience? I pitied the person who had to touch the seatbelt for the seat that we had occupied.

Go on a roadtrip and have Trey scream the entire time (ok, it just felt like it last year). It took one trip to remind us why we love flying. But, then they turn 2 and you have to pay for them so you forget, and plan another road trip this October.

Try to clean your outside windows and ruin the screens, and spend hours doing it. It's worth $75 to pay someone else to do it.

Just this afternoon I was reminded why I usually try to run errands with as few children as possible. ;)
