Beautiful...the whole city is made of a yellow stone. Metz is medium/smallish city, everyone was really nice, but when they found out we were from the United States they wanted to know why we weren't in Paris.
We parked on this road next to our hotel. It winds up toward the highest spot in the city. After walking up this steep, narrow, cobblestone road, with forty pounds (roughly 18 kg) of luggage, it makes sense why this road would be called the "road from H. E. double hockey sticks".

I love that castle, fortress thing. Can you go inside it? How long where you there? Is it good weather right now?
That cool their door entrances are tall enough for Jacob
Beautiful. I love that you got Jacob's picture in front of his old door!
pretty pictures, and i love the new header
You can go inside, sort of. You just kind of wander around the towers and walls. Most of the towers are blocked by gates. It's not really a tourist attraction, it's just...there. That's what makes it so cool. There's a walking/jogging trail that follows along the old walls by the river. It's absolutely beautiful. The weather was perfect, light jacket weather.
